1 Day Trip to the Racha Islands

Yacht Charter and Boat Rental in Phuket

Adventure Provided by: Julia H. · Boat Owner

What to expect

About 16 kilometers south of Phuket, lie the Racha Islands or the Raya Islands. Consisting of the twin islands of Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi (yai means “big”, and noi means “little”), these islands are a paradise and are popular amongst divers and snorkelers, offering a wide range of sites both for advanced divers as well as for beginners.

On this 1 day trip, you will get the chance to discover the Racha Islands and the turquoise blue and emerald waters that surround them. Indulge into an exploration of these magical waters that are teeming with a vivid marine life.

As we set sail from the Boat Lagoon Marina, Phuket, we head towards the larger of the 2 Racha Islands, Koh Racha Yai. This island will blow your mind away the minute you arrive and land onto a strip of fine white sand tucked deep into the long, U-shaped main bay, called Ao Tawan Tok or Ao Bungalow. Get mesmerized by the stunning beauty of this place as you explore Batok Bay, the most popular bay of Koh Racha Yai, or stroll through the white sandy beaches, framed by a bay that is fringed with coral on either side. Don't miss your chance to dive or snorkel into the blue waters with their every changing hue going from aquamarine to turquoise and discover a marine life that is guaranteed to take your breath away. If you are lucky you just may catch a glimpse of the sea turtles that are found in these parts.

Next stop will be at Koh Racha Noi, 10 kilometers from Racha Yai, it is the result of coral reef build up. Here the topography is rockier with large granite boulders that are a distinct feature of this island. The emerald green waters at Racha Noi have a large variety of marine life like Tuna, Barracudas, Sting and Manta Rays, and Leopard Sharks. This island is completely uninhabited with no services or accommodations.

From Koh Racha Noi, we sail to Maithon Island, popularly known as Honeymoon Island. This private exotic island with its astounding beaches and scintillating reef is now finally open for visitors to explore on day trips. You can relax on the white sandy beach, dive into the crystal-clear waters or snorkel and explore the fascinating giant clam garden and enjoy the spectacular array of fish and marine life.

The best time to visit the islands is an early morning. We depart from Boat Lagoon Marina at 8:00 am and will reach the destination in an hour. After our cruise we will arrive back in Phuket at 4:00 pm. We look forward to having you on board with us to explore the incredible beauty of Indonesia.
