Cruise from Ancient Olympia to Kalamata

Adventure Provided by: Eirini T. · Yacht Broker

What to expect

Olympia was the original site of the first Olympic Games, which were held every four years by the ancient Greeks. Olympia was situated in a valley in Elis, in western Peloponnisos, cradling the Alpheus River. It was not actually a town, rather a sanctuary, with buildings associated with the games and the worship of the Greek gods.

Olympia was a hugely important shrine of Greek culture, containing many treasures of Greek art, like temples, monuments, altars, theatres, statues, and devotional objects of brass and marble. The French began excavations there in 1829 and since then, many valuable objects have been discovered, the most important of which is a statue of Hermes, the messenger of the gods, by Praxiteles.

Kalamata is the capital and central port of Messinia. After gaining independence from the Turks and due to the cultivation of the fertile Messinian land, producing olive oil, raisins, figs and the like, it developed over time into a wealthy urban centre and important port.

The "Round the World" project was created to fulfil the needs of those who wish to experience ocean-going adventures. We offer you one-way charters, from Greece to Phuket for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, starting from July the 1st in the Ionian Sea. The 2017 season itinerary includes Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, and Suez and the 2018 season itinerary includes the Red Sea, Maldives, Goa, Sri Lanka, Andaman Islands and Phuket.

We are completely flexible with booking dates and we can support 7, 10, or 14-day charters and can customise the itinerary of each charter as requested. We have arranged specific places for the check ins/outs, taking into consideration accessibility to airports and ports in order to help you organise an easier trip to and from us.

For your own convenience, we include breakfast, lunch, soft beverages, end cleaning, linen and towels in our fee.

Please note: Our team will organise a brief of what you can expect to see on your itinerary and we will always try to include local fresh products and information about local historical places, interests and entertainment. We will also help you organise other activities, like kite surfing or diving, or exploring the region has to offer. These costs are not included in the price.

The target of these trips is at the end to make you feel part of the team. For you to experience different cultures, cuisines and to sail as much as possible. In the evenings, the crew will always try to grant you access to land in order to meet the locals.
