8 Day Sailing Sojourn from Ambon to Raja Ampat

Yacht Charter and Boat Rental in Maluku

Adventure Provided by: Annie B. · Charter Agency

What to expect

Embark on an 8-day adventure through the Banda and Ceram Seas, beginning in Ambon and finishing in Sorong in Raja Ampat.

Cloaked in tropical rainforest, Ambon Island is a fertile, mountainous island that lies off the south-west coast of Seram Island on the north side of the Banda Sea. It makes up part of a chain of volcanic islands on the northern side of the renowned Banda Islands. For many years, the Banda Islands were known for their significance in the spice trade.

Today, they are known not only for their history but also for their breathtaking landscape, both above and below water. With a mix of history and natural beauty, these islands are the perfect place to enjoy diving, snorkelling, beach barbeques and sightseeing make for a remarkable setting and unforgettable moments.

Raja Ampat is as remote as you get - closer to West Papua than anywhere else. The name translates as ‘Four Kings’ referring to the four main islands, which are in turn surrounded by approximately 1,500 wild islands with pristine beaches and sheer limestone cliffs plunging into aqua seas. Above water, the islands’ cultural heritage is diverse, with prehistoric cave paintings and relics from the era of the Four Kings who once ruled here. Visitors can trek through the jungle, learn about traditional kampong life in local villages and explore the coast by sea kayak. Beneath the surface, Raja Ampat is recognised as the world’s most bio-diverse marine ecosystem with 1,200 species of fish and 550 species of hard and soft coral, a shelter for 6 of the world’s 7 species of sea turtle.

This is a beautiful 173-foot phinisi-style superyacht, envisioned by architects Sotyrys and Alexander Pantopulos, in collaboration with famed tall ship designer Zygmunt Choren and handmade by the legendary shipwrights of Sulawesi. This prestigious yacht combines sleek modern lines and big-name designers, with Indonesian tradition, featuring furnishings by the likes of Dedon, Minotti and Water Knoll. This boat cruises throughout Indonesia, from the 1,500 idyllic islands of Raja Ampat to the jagged peaks of Komodo National Park and the Bandas, also known as the original Spice Islands.

Above deck, a two-level master suite links to an adjoining children’s room, while below deck there are 5 cabins with queen-size beds and en-suite bathrooms. Decorated in dark wood, crisp white linens and lightened furnishings, the interiors onboard ship are nothing short of striking, with rooms featuring unique wooden tiles imprinted with 19th-century maps.

Throughout the boat, guests will find unique sculptures, ornaments and carvings collected from around Asia, Polynesia and the Maori Islands, with fabulous furniture designed by the likes of Philippe Starck, Jean Marie-Massaud and Patricia Urquiola.
