7 Day Sailing Sojourn from Komodo National Park to Sumba

Yacht Charter and Boat Rental in East Nusa Tenggara

Adventure Provided by: Annie B. · Charter Agency

What to expect

Enjoy a 7-day Indonesian adventure from Komodo National Park to the fascinating island of Sumba.

The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site consisting of 3 larger islands (Komodo, Padar and Rinca) and 26 smaller ones. Komodo and Rinca are home to the native Komodo dragons, believed to have descended from a dragon princess centuries ago.

The mysterious islands of the Komodo archipelago appear unworldly as you see the giant ridges that are covered in savannah grasses emerge from the waters.

The waters of Komodo National Park have long been famous as one of the most species-rich tropical underwater environments on earth, with more than 1,000 types of fish and 260 corals.

The island of Sumba is an island that time forgot, as did Portuguese explorer Antonio de Abreu when he sailed past in 1512 and later Venetian Antonio Pigafetta who misplaced it on a map. Sumba carried on with little interruption from the outside world is home and boasts an amazing surf.

The locals live by the word of shamans and hold an annual festival called Pasola. The significance of Pasola is represented across the island in art and sculpture and makes up the majority of prints on renowned ikat textiles.

Phinisi 98

Gulet/Phinisi Charter in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia · Up to 2 guests

Charter Provided by: Annie B. · Charter Agency

Phinisi 98

This is truly a one-of-a-kind yacht - the only sailing yacht in Indonesia designed for just 2 guests!  Refurbished in 2013 by its owner, an acclaimed interior designer from Moscow, this 31-metre traditional 'phinisi'-style yacht began life as a cargo vessel, shipping spices from one Indonesian isle to another. Emerging from its refurbishment decorated all in white, this boat still retains its phinisi charm but exudes new levels of understated luxury. Offering total privacy and undeniable style, it can take guests on spectacular journeys around Indonesia, including Bali, Lombok and the Gili Islands, Sumbawa, Alor and most recently, Raja Ampat too. This yacht is the obvious choice for a romantic escape or an incredible honeymoon. The lucky couple will be cocooned in extravagance and attended to by a crew of 7, including a spa therapist, a private chef, a cruise director and a dive guide.

The yacht has just one exquisite master cabin, with wraparound windows offering 270-degree views over some of Indonesia’s most majestic landscapes and a private balcony on the aft deck. With a medley of white linens, flowing cream curtains, turquoise accents, Balinese antiques, and aged teak floors, this is undoubtedly one of the most stylish boats available to charter in Indonesia.

The owner’s footloose, stripped-back approach to style continues throughout the rest of the vessel's interiors, including an indoor lounge and dining room, and a kitchen below deck. Large windows make the most of the views, while a combination of local antiques, silk rugs and contemporary art keeps the essence of Indonesia in sight. Outdoors, a large daybed is ideal for lounging in the shade, with cushioned areas on the bow for catching the breeze.

The upper deck features a dining area and an additional daybed, ideal for sunbathing or starlit slumber. The chef collates menus according to the guests’ desires, with a focus on fresh, healthy cuisine, sourced from local Indonesian farmers and paired with incredible wines from around the world. For a special treat, bonfire lit barbeque dinners can be arranged on uninhabited islands. The onboard masseuse can set up a massage table on the deck or on a private stretch of beach for the ultimate relaxation.

Please note: Onboard facilities include air-conditioning, portable docking stations, paddleboards, snorkelling gear, and diving equipment.
