7 Day Diving Cruise in the Mergui Archipelago

Yacht Charter and Boat Rental in Tanintharyi

Adventure Provided by: Marina R. · Charter Operator

What to expect

The Mergui Archipelago and the Burma Banks are a group of more than 800 islands, mostly uninhabited and remote in the Andaman Sea, belonging to Myanmar. The nearest port of call is Ranong, a small city situated at the very southern tip of Myanmar, bordering Thailand. All guests must reach Ranong by crossing the border from Thailand, not from Myanmar.

The archipelago features stunning reefs, full of marine life and many unexplored white sand beaches. The area is largely isolated from mankind's influence, which has given the islands and the surrounding waters a great diversity of flora and fauna. Divers can witness whale sharks, stingrays, reef sharks, colourful nudibranchs and unique species of shrimp and crabs.

Liveaboard cruises are the only way for visitors to go diving in this area. There is an overabundance of reef and dive sites, some islands have huge boulders covered with soft corals and sea fans, while others offer wall diving, caverns, tunnels, and tall drop-offs.

Dive sites such as Shark Cave feature grey reef, nurse sharks, and marbled stingrays. Black Rock has manta rays and schools of Mobula (devil) rays. Photographers are attracted by frogfish, ghost pipefish, ribbon eels, and cowries, as well as many crustaceans such as lobsters, crabs, and shrimp.

Please Note: All onboard payments are cash only.
