Good to know

  • Bulgaria - Black Sea cruising at its best!
  • The best kept secret in the European sailing world
  • Excellent value for money
Not many people associate Bulgaria to the idea of a private cruise – yet, with 354 km of Black Sea coastline, six months of sunshine, warm weather and affordable prices, Bulgaria is set to become the next best thing in the European sailing panorama.
The capital of the Bulgarian cruising scene is Varna, the country’s third-largest city, a bustling place where you can spend a few pleasant days relaxing on the nearby beaches before sailing the Bulgarian Black Sea.
Besides the beaches, Varna offers interesting sights, including a enormous park to walk round, Bulgaria’s largest Roman baths complex and the country’s top archaeological museum, as well as a lively cultural and restaurant scene. Another Bulgarian party hotspot is the aptly named Sunny Beach, a resort with a 5 km beach and the opportunity for watersports.
Sailing along the Bulgarian coast, you’ll pass a variety of landscapes, including wide, sandy (and almost deserted!) beaches, rocky headlands up to 70 meters high, river mouths and wetland areas home to thousands of birds, and the little-explored Strandzha Nature Park, close to the border with Turkey. Better still, you won’t be surrounded by thousands of other sailors!
