Good to know

  • Explore wrecks and sea caves
  • Check out the best dive sites around Malta and Gozo
  • Opt for snorkeling if you're not certified
Malta is the best-kept diving secret in the Mediterranean. There's a lot to see underwater between Malta and Gozo - there are several wrecks, and the islands' rocky shores mean that clear visibility is ensured even in summer. Sailing or cruising is the best way to move around between Malta's dive sites, avoiding the crowded streets and traffic often found on the island. Wrecks is one of the main reasons to come to Malta to dive - for instance, the oil tanker Um El Faroud was artificially sunk in 1995 to become an artificial reef. The boat size is impressive and it houses a variety of marine life including congers and barracudas. The wreck of MV Karwela is also a great dive site, as is The Blenheim bomber, a sunken plane with a mysterious history. If wrecks are not your thing, you can opt for cave diving - Double Arch is one of the best sites in Gozo or you can opt for the famous Blue Hole, also in Gozo, close to where the Azure Window used to stand. Malta is also ideal for snorkeling so even if you're not certified it's possible for you to dive the marine depths!  Keep browsing our listings and get ready to dive Malta!
