Good to know

  • Italy’s best beach destination
  • Sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing paradise
  • Many unspoiled beaches for you to enjoy
Have you decided to sail around Italy this summer? Make sure you include Sardinia in your itinerary. Italy’s second largest island has you need for an unforgettable holiday surrounded by the deep blue – lots of sunshine, reliable winds and many undiscovered beaches to explore. And if you decide to include nearby Corsica in your Sardinia expedition, you’ll have double the fun! Southern Sardinia, where you’ll find Cagliari (the island’s main city),  is blessed with several stunning beaches – two examples are Costa Rei, a 12 km crescent of pristine white sand, and Cala Antoniareddu, a secluded cove that is best reached by boat. Northern Sardinia is known for being party central – resorts like Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo are also favourite hangouts of the rich and famous from Italy and beyond, with flashy yachts lining the village marinas. In Northern Sardinia you’ll also find Santa Teresa di Gallura, the perfect destination for snorkeling and scuba diving lovers, and Arcipelago della Maddalena, a group of islands between Sardinia and Corsica with some of the wildest beaches in the Mediterranean. Windsurf and kitesurf are also a great reason to visit Sardinia – due to its position in the centre of the Mediterranean and its exposure to winds and waves. Capo Mannu Beach, not far from Oristano on the western coast of the island, often has waves that exceed 3 meters in height, making it one of Italy’s best surfing locations. Have we made you curious about travelling to Sardinia for your next holiday? Keep browsing our listings and start packing!
