Good to know

  • Explore Martinique's sailing capital
  • Enjoy delicious Creole cuisine
  • Get to know Martinique culture
If you're planning to cruise Martinique, more often than not you'll be starting your adventure in Le Marin, Martinique's yachting capital. The harbour of Le Marin is full of charter yachts coming and going, heading for the remote beaches of the island or further away, to places like the Grenadines. However, before heading off to visit Martinique's stunning nature - including the wonderful beaches near Sainte-Anne in the south, and the famous volcano Mount Pelee - make sure you also check out Le Marin itself, a pleasant town with whitewashed building and a buzzing European vibe. After all, we may be in the Caribbean, but this is Europe as well - Martinique is actually part of France.  Chartering a yacht in Le Marin will also give you the chance to taste the unique cuisine found in this part of the world - Martinique's Creole cuisine is a blend of French and Caribbean flavours, with specialties like accras de morue, delicious salt cod fritters. Your onboard chef will be more than happy to whip up Martinican specialties for you, or you can always head to one of Le Marin's restaurants before or after your sail!
