Good to know

  • Snorkeling St.Maarten - the perfect activity when you sail!
  • Excellent conditions and visibility
  • Explore wrecks and marine parks
Are you a snorkeling lover traveling to St.Maarten? You’re in for a treat! Both the French and Dutch side of the island offer excellent snorkeling opportunities, with over 45 snorkeling sites. Some of the wonders you’ll see include bright colored tropical fish, thriving reefs, sea turtles, rays and… planes flying overhead! One of the best locations for snorkeling in St.Maarten is Mullet Bay, right next to Maho Beach, the famous beach on the airport’s landing path, where you’ll be able to see crabs, urchins and a variety of tropical fish while you snorkel. Another great snorkeling destination in St.Maarten is Cupecoy Beach - you can even swim all the way from Mullet Bay if you’re game, but make sure you save some energy to explore Cupecoy Cave. Advanced snorkelers can also arrange a trip to Man of War Shoal, a marine park on the Dutch side, even though you really need to know how to dive to explore the shoal at its best. Regardless of where you go snorkeling in St.Maarten, you’ll be able to enjoy near-perfect underwater visibility, up to 100 meters or more, making it the ideal location for beginners and photographers.
